7Steps, a creation born from a European project, confronts and brings together various personalities and nationalities, thanks to the universality of the language of the body.
"Going beyond the language and cultural barriers and pre-defined codes is a challenge taken on by dance on a daily basis thanks to the universal language of the body.
In the framework of the project initiated by the 7STEPS network, I will bring together British, Finnish, Danish, Dutch and Belgian dancers on a single stage.
In each of these countries, hip-hop dance has a story of its own. The challenge of this performance will be to confront them in order to gather them better. « The whole is greater than the sum of its parts » : the uniqueness of these 10 artists, their audacity, will form the basis of this unprecedented artistic collaboration as well as what will spice up this human adventure.
Beyond this creation, 7STEPS feeds into an important reflection on the forms and generations’ renewal in hip-hop dance. It is also the professionalisation of this dance form at international level that is at stake.
I am convinced that the development of a European identity can also be achieved through dance, by inventing a new common history."
